We come upon a cabin in the woods…

Dog and I traipsed through the forest following the trail that the Zombie God left. It was easy as he just did not care what he tore up as he ran away. I figure that I could follow this trail even a month from now…

But as Dog and I was following that trail. We came upon a cabin in the woods…

The owner of the cabin was named Ricky and he was definitely a man who had been in the woods a long time and just the other day he saw his first Zombie in 50 years and it was the Zombie God that we were tracking…

Ricky did not even no that the world had come to an end and really he could care less. He did wonder why the old store located 45 miles away at Carson Corner was abandoned, but he helped himself to all the food and such that he could carry in 5 trips and emptied the store. He said he left money to cover all that he took and had just been wondering about that very store as he saw this huge stupid looking ugly Zombie thing tramp through his garden the other day. Ricky said that it ruined half his crops and that now he would be in trouble food wise…

Dog took to Ricky and they sat near a fire he built outside to take away the chill and then at my persistence, Ricky told me what he has been doing the last few years…

As I said Ricky had not seen a Zombie for 50 years and that he had been out in the woods for longer than that. Ricky is 75 years old and looks about 45 years old. 50 years ago he killed a Zombie in his home town and was run out of the town as a trouble maker…

He said that he knew Zombies were going to make a comeback and that it was just a matter of time. So Ricky came to the woods and decided to live a life of seclusion and peace…

Ricky decided that mankind was stupid and he would have no part of mankind. The only time he use to chat with anyone was when he wandered into the store and bought supplies twice a year. In fact he had whittled down from twice a year to once a year and was trying to only go once every two years. Well now according to what he found at the store the last time he went. He will never have to go back and never will. He figures that he will be dead before he runs out of staples now after that last haul from the store…

Ricky had just made a fresh loaf of bread and he had a huge deer bone for Dog! Dog and I were in heaven. He also had some homemade brew that was right fine and delicious. Goats milk topped off Dog’s meal and we all settled back to a story of Ricky’s…

The story was familiar and I smiled as he told it, but hey! He would never believe who I was and who am I too talk down to my elders… 🙂

Ricky said that in the old days, there was a man who forewarned of the coming Zombie War of 2012! This man tried to stimulate the world into fighting back and no one listened. All anyone did was play video games and watch them damn “Dancing with the Stars” shows…

This man never gave up and finally after all was said and done he single handily defeated the Zombies and restored Earth back from the dead. They said that he was a god and loved Earth so much, that he gave his own soul and life several times to bring Earth back from the dead…

But now Earth has done it again and the Zombie plague has reached all parts of the planet. Some say that this man has come back and is trying to remove the Zombies from earth again…

I say that, it has been a thousand years since he was last on Earth and like all gods and such, everyone dies. I think he is gone from the Universe…

Ricky went on to express that he prays to the want and need for this god to come back to Earth and save us, but we are really too stupid to save and it would be a waste of time if he did come back…

Ricky was tired and fell asleep as he finished talking to Dog and I. Regardless how he looks, he is an old man and old men need sleep to keep going…

I decided to use a little Reaper magic and fix his garden! I also gave him a few more good years of life, about 10 added to the 10 he had left. He would live until 95 if nothing else gets him before that. I also removed the age from his cabin and when I walked away with Dog, he had a brand new cabin to live in…

I asked Dog if he was staying or coming with me! I knew that Dog wanted to stay and I would not keep him from staying. Dog would stay with me if I insisted, but I knew better and I knew that this was a better life for Dog. Dog was not mine and he needed to be where he would be happiest…

Doh whined and I reached down and petted his head. I said, “Dog, I had a dog like you once, but you are not that dog. I can not hold you by my memory and that would just be unfair. Please stay with Ricky if you desire and I promise that I will not hold a grudge against you in anyway. Ricky needs you more than I do!”

I looked up and saw Ricky looking at me and he stayed silent! I then stood up and turned my back and walked away…

Ricky was on his feet and staring wide eyed at all that had changed around him…

As I was almost out of sight…

I heard Ricky yell, “You are God! You are him!”

I turned and saw Ricky on his knees and hands clasped with his eyes closed. Dog was running around him and barking for joy…

I then turned and went to catch a Zombie God! In my mind I was thinking, “No I am not just a god, Ricky! I am a Reaper of the Zombie Gods! That makes me much more than just a god!” so “But “God Bless You Ricky” use the years I gave you wisely. See ya Dog…”
